Stashes

What is a stash?

A stash is a named, color-coded collection — similar to a folder. Unlike folders, a stash can hold any mix of notes, bookmarks, and files together in one place. Each item can belong to at most one stash.

Items without a stash still appear in the All Items view alongside stash members, so nothing gets hidden.

Creating a stash

From the sidebar: Click the + icon in the Stashes section header → type a name in the inline input → press Enter.

From the Manage Stashes & Tags modal:

1. Click Manage Stashes & Tags in the left sidebar.
2. Go to the Stashes tab.
3. Type a stash name in the search field — a Create "name" button appears.
4. Click it to open the color picker, choose a color, and confirm.

You can also create a stash inline while moving items — see Moving items into a stash below.

Moving items into a stash

1. Hover over any item card to reveal its checkbox, then click it to select. Repeat for additional items.
2. The bulk action bar appears at the bottom of the screen showing the selected count.
3. Click Move (folder icon) → a stash picker opens.
4. Select the destination stash, or type a name to create a new stash inline.
5. To remove items from their current stash, choose Remove from Stash at the top of the picker.

Filtering by stash

Click any stash in the left sidebar to view only its contents. The type filter (Notes / Bookmarks / Files) and tag filter still apply within a stash view. The sidebar shows an item count next to each stash name.

To search for a stash in the sidebar, click the search icon in the Stashes section header.

Renaming a stash

From the sidebar: Hover over a stash → click the pencil icon → edit the name inline → press Enter or click the checkmark to save.

From the Manage Stashes & Tags modal: Hover over the stash → click the pencil icon → edit name and color → click Save.

Deleting a stash

From the sidebar: Hover over a stash → click the trash icon → confirm.

From the Manage Stashes & Tags modal: Hover over the stash → click the trash icon → a confirmation dialog shows how many items will lose their stash assignment → confirm to delete.

Nested stashes

StashSync.app does not support nested stashes. Use tags alongside stashes for more granular organization.
